About The Big Blue & You
The Big Blue &You Foundation’s mission is to inspire, educate & empower today’s youth to become global stewards of the Earth and guardians of the Oceans through service learning, visual arts & media.
Founder, Danni Washington graduated from the University of Miami (Double Major in Marine Science and Biology) in August 2008. During that same month, she entered and won first place in the nationwide ROXY ‘Follow Your Heart’ competition presented by Schick® Quattro for Women® a contest driven by the ‘Follow Your Heart Tour’ a 12-location tour intended to inspire girls to go after their dreams. This unbelievable blessing opened doors for her to reach out to young people in the community about ocean conservation in various ways. She used the funds acquired from the competition to start the ‘The Big Blue & You Foundation’ which is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that aims to inspire and empower today youth on the environment and the ocean through the arts, service learning and media.
The Big Blue & You’s various educational and hands-on events, programs and online based initiatives for children grades K-12 are able to present critical information about marine conservation in a fun and unique way. We strongly believe that children are the strategic medium to transport new ideas and information about protecting our blue planet to their parents, families and society as a whole.
